Mississippi Flyway · Reelfoot Lake, Tennessee

Duck Season at Reelfoot Lake

One of the most storied waterfowl hunting destinations in the Mid-South — right on the flyway.

The Mississippi Flyway Runs Right Through Here

Reelfoot Lake sits directly on the Mississippi Flyway, the most heavily traveled migratory bird corridor in North America. Every fall and winter, millions of ducks and geese funnel through this shallow, timber-rich lake on their way south — making it one of the premier waterfowl hunting destinations in Tennessee and the entire Mid-South. Southshore Resort puts you right in the middle of it all, with lakefront accommodations, an on-site bait shop, and decades of local knowledge to help you make the most of every morning in the blind.

Why Hunt Reelfoot?

Prime Flyway Location

Reelfoot Lake sits squarely on the Mississippi Flyway. Mallards, teal, wood ducks, and Canada geese move through in massive numbers each season.

Shallow Timber Habitat

The lake's flooded timber and cypress stands create ideal loafing and feeding habitat for waterfowl — the kind of natural cover that holds birds all season long.

Managed Public & Private Blinds

Reelfoot Lake State Park manages a lottery blind system on the public areas. Private land opportunities also exist — ask our staff for local guidance.

Stay Right on the Water

No long drives to the put-in. Our lakefront cabins and dock put you minutes from the best hunting areas on the lake.
